About Dr. Tjijandjeua Kandetu

With close to 10 years’ experience in paediatric medicine, Dr. Kandetu has dedicated her career to ensuring the health and wellbeing of children from infancy right through to adolescence.

Dr. Kandetu obtained her undergraduate medical degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2011 and completed her paediatric specialist training at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. During this time, she honed her skills in general paediatric medicine and was exposed to a wide variety of paediatric medical conditions under the guidance and mentorship of brilliant clinicians and researchers.

She completed her Master of Medicine degree in paediatrics at the University of Stellenbosch in 2021 and went on to further sub-specialise in Paediatric Critical Care at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, which she completed in 2023.

As a sub-specialist paediatrician, Dr. Kandetu is passionate about paediatric critical care and the development of paediatric ICU services in Namibia. She is a passionate advocate for child safety and accident prevention and loves to share her knowledge and experience when given an opportunity.

Dr. Kandetu believes in working closely in a multidisciplinary team as this offers the best quality of care and possible outcome for your child. She believes in open and honest communication with her patients and their caregivers.

Beyond clinical medicine, she is a mom to an energetic beautiful boy. Since becoming a mom and encountering healthcare services for her own child, she has gained great understanding and knowledge in recognising and acknowledging the needs of her patients and their caregivers.
