Dr. Metzger completed his MBChB at Stellenbosch University in 2013 and went on to do his internship and Medical Officer years at Potchefstroom Hospital in South Africa. In 2017, he joined the University Hospital in Düsseldorf, Germany, as a registrar in the Department of Anaesthesiology. By October 2022, he was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist and for the past two years, he served as Senior Consultant in the Department of Cardiac Anaesthesia. This unit is one of the largest in Germany and the second largest cardiac transplant centre in the Eurotransplant group.

In July 2025, Dr. Metzger and his family decided to return to their roots in Windhoek, Namibia.
His wealth of experience, particularly in cardiac anaesthesia and transplant medicine, is an incredible addition to the hospital.
