Lady Pohamba Private Hospital is pleased to announce and congratulate Dr. Mike Alison on the successful launch of the Faraview and OPAL HDx 3D mapping system, which took place at the hospital on September 4, 2025. We were honoured to have Prof. Gabor Szeplaki, a specialist Electrophysiology Cardiologist and Head of Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin, and Clinical Lead for the Arrhythmia Centre, support Dr. Alison during the launch of this groundbreaking new technology.

The Faraview Mapping system is a state-of-the-art computer platform that assists doctors in treating atrial fibrillation (AF), a condition where the heart beats with an irregular rhythm. The system works with a specialised catheter – a thin tube placed inside the heart – that can both record the heart’s electrical activity and deliver treatment. By creating a live 3D map of the heart, it allows doctors to see the exact areas causing the rhythm problem, ensuring safer, faster, and more precise treatment.

This advanced technology is now available to patients with atrial fibrillation at Lady Pohamba Private Hospital, following the successful completion of five Pulsed Field Ablation and integrated 3D mapping procedures. Pulsed Field Ablation represents a new generation of therapy that is both safer and more precise than traditional methods, significantly improving outcomes for patients.

As a quaternary hospital, Lady Pohamba Private Hospital continues to attract leading specialists and invest in world-class, specialised technology to advance patient care in Namibia.

We extend our congratulations to Dr. Alison and the entire electrophysiology team for their contributions to this significant milestone. Together, we remain committed to investing in the latest technology and delivering the highest quality clinical outcomes for our patients.
