Dr Tomé Honing
Gynecologist & Fertility Specialist

Dr Tomé Honing qualified as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist in 2012 and became a senior lecturer at the University of the Free State. Although thoroughly enjoying her involvement in student and specialist training, she pursued her passion for subfertility and endoscopic surgery and left for further full-time studies training as subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine. She is registered as Gynecologist and Fertility Specialist at the HPCS, and HPCNA, and is also a member of SASREG (Southern African Society for Reproductive Medicine and Gynecological Endoscopy), ESGE (European Society of Gynecological Endoscopy) and ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology).
She is married to dr Johan Honing, a Cardiothoracic Surgeon and enjoys outdoor life with their two children.
She is passionate about sub-fertility related issues including:
- Anovulation (not ovulating);
- Male subfertility;
- Unexplained infertility;
- Sterilization reversal; and
- Fertility preservation.
Although Dr Honing will work with the full spectrum of general gynecology, she has a special interest in:
- Abnormal uterine bleeding;
- Pelvic pain;
- Endoscopic surgery (including laparoscopic hysterectomy, myomectomy and myoma resection etc);
- Menopause; and
- Gynecological endocrinology, including PCOS and contraception.
